Usually a pencil is seen as something used for sketching, for scribbling - not really a MEDIUM in its own right, not one which has a scope and a range as great if not even greater than the "accepted" media.

But here, in my work, you see a belief in pencil as a unique medium, moving from the deep black graininess of an 8B pencil through to the silver sheen of a hard 8H, and in between there are the textures of cross-hatching and scribbling, of fine lines and of engraving.

Of course, technique however unique is not enough to justify these works, for each one must, in some way, speak to you, the viewer, to justify its creation.
